This year’s judging process included some noteworthy changes: a significantly higher number of volunteer judges, expanded blog categories, and a new dimension: the public vote. After the judges narrowed down the long list of nominations, the voting opened to the public in May and librarians everywhere were invited to vote for their favorite blogs. Thousands chimed in, ensuring that the most outstanding blogs came out on top. The result is this year’s diverse list.

According to Peter W. Tobey, Salem Press’s Director of Sales & Marketing, “This year the judging was tough. Several blogs in each category were in contention and the final choices weren’t easy. A really great group of writers won.” And, he added, “The result is a wonderful, current Blog Directory describing hundreds of nominated blogs, finalists and winners.” To tour this collection, click Blog Directory.

Congratulations to all 2011 winners.
